Thirroul is best known for it’s luxurious line up of cafes, local artisan shopping and it’s picture-perfect coastline… However, there is so much more to see and do around this coastal town! Here are some of our favourite suggestions.
ADVENTURE
A well known area for many adventurous and beautiful hiking trails, options for beginners looking for a short scenic walk right through to intermediate full day and multi day hiking trails for the hiking enthusiasts.
Bald Hill which is approximately 15 minutes drive north of Thirroul village is well known for hand gliding tours and experiences. If Sky Diving is more your thing, only 15 minutes south of Thirroul you will find Sky Dive Australia where you can book to jump out of a plane 15,000 ft from the sky. We highly recommend these options for the adrenaline junkies coming to visit Thirroul.
DINING
With one of the Illawarra’s top rated restaurants Jose Jones based onsite here at Thirroul Beach Motel you won’t have to go very far to get a delicious meal or drink.
We have around 20 other beautiful restaurants, pubs, cafes, delis and eateries only 2 minutes walk into the village which means no matter what type of cuisine you are craving, you are in easy reach to all options.
SURFING
Some of the most famous South Coast surf breaks are located just minutes drive away, not to mention we are based one street back from Thirroul Beach which is rated highly for intermediate surf levels. With over 20 local beaches to suit all levels of surfers abilities you can find the perfect beach to catch some waves during your stay!

SIGHTSEEING
The Illawarra region has many options for beautiful scenery and sights to see. The Nan Tien buddhist temple located only 20 minutes drive south offers meditation classes, tours and calligraphy lessons for those looking for a little zen. Another famous sight we recommend to see is the Kiama Blow Hole in the beautiful town ship of Kiama located 45 minutes south of Thirroul. A wonderful day out!
